At PS 340 we are committed to involving our children in activities that help the community.  We hope to develop the mindset that good neighbors reach out and help one another. To that end, we choose age-appropriate, local initiatives that involve the students in supporting our New York City neighbors.

For the past several years, we have worked with City Harvest and Room to Grow. In 2020/2021, we are making modifications to our initiatives due to covid restrictions. As soon as we are able, we will resume the below events.

City Harvest Canned Food Drive

Typically held the week before Thanksgiving break, the PTA organizes a food drive through a partnership with City Harvest, which is dedicated to helping feed the million-plus New Yorkers facing hunger. To learn more, visit https://www.cityharvest.org

Room to Grow Spring Cleaning Toy Drive

The PTA holds a toy drive the week before spring recess.  Donated items are sent to Room to Grow, an organization that is devoted to enriching the lives of babies and toddlers.  To learn more, visit http://www.roomtogrow.org
